Participatory in nature, we aim to build relationships with the film contributors and treat their stories as precious as we would our own. We take pride in capturing visuals that amplify the story, and understand the responsibility of what, as artists, we choose to document.

There are a few ways to measure success in filmmaking — sales, distribution, accolades — but for us, it is really about how well we honoured and communicated the story in a way that is truthful, inspiring and impactful.

We got our start in film work by embarking on a documentary “passion project” focusing on local food. Through this experience, we discovered the power of storytelling, and how a properly crafted documentary can provoke new ways of thinking and shift the narrative on how we talk about important issues. Once we witnessed that potential, we officially caught the documentary filmmaking bug: we honed our skills in writing, producing, directing and cinematography — and have never looked back.

Now, ten years later and living in Ottawa, Canada, our projects explore timely topics in authentic ways. We produce our own films and take on work for clients who are looking to utilize documentary-style content for their organization.

When it comes to media and film, we recognize that there’s a lot of noise out there: overly-sensational stories, “gotcha” journalism and people parachuting in and out of communities for the sake of their next documentary. That’s not our style.

In fact, building connections and experiencing lives different from our own is part of what we love so much about filmmaking. Whether it is getting up at 3 am to milk cows, or hand harvesting blueberries in a patch full of mosquitoes, or standing in a windy open field in winter to catch a fleeting sunset, we put in the time, effort and energy to cover all angles of the experience — and then re-live it all in the editing room to craft the most authentic way to share it with the audience.
